In this video we update a large inglenook in Droitwich. We start by removing the open fire and knocking out all the infill brickwork. Due to the size of the opening we plaster boarded the left and right side maintaining clearance to combustibles. This allowed us to plaster the sides and roll the plaster in the corners to create a nice feature of the fireplace. The back wall was rendered due to its size to protect against the heat.
After that we made a custom steel frame above the opening for our large 3 piece register plate. We then lined the chimney with Midtherm Midflex 316L liner manufactured locally in Dudley it comes with a 25 year warranty. The stove a Woodwarm Fireview Slender 5kW is then connected up to the liner and commissioned with the customer with a demonstration on how to use the appliance etc. A HETAS certificate is issued upon completion.
