Working on behalf of Bromsgrove School at one of their estate properties that they were refurbishing we were tasked to complete a full stove installation. We opened the chimney back to the builders opening which was smaller than usual. We decided to widen the fireplace further to the largest available size.
We fitted a new concrete supporting lintel to structurally support the chimney and installed a bespoke Brazilian slate hearth. We then supplied and fitted one of our signature English oak beams and boarded the opening to provide a smooth paintable finish. We made good the plaster with bonding ready for the schools own in house plastering team to skim the whole room during the refurbishment.
